WILLIAM PALMER: The Notorious Crimes and Trial of the Prince of Poisoners
#truecrimestories #crime #doctor
Charles Dickens described William Palmer as “the greatest villain that ever stood in the Old Bailey dock.” Other writers and journalists of the day awarded Palmer other monikers such as “the Rugeley Poisoner” and the almost-complimentary epithet “the Prince of Poisoners.” And then, when William Palmer was due to hang, over 35,000 people crowded the streets of Stafford to witness the grisly event, with some even camping overnight to find good spots as if they were attending a festival or waiting for the new pair of Jordans to drop.
So what did Palmer do to earn such a fearsome reputation? The crime that earned him a trip to the gallows was the murder of his ...

William T Sherman: The First Modern General
Просмотров 21 тыс.22 часа назад
#civilwar #biography #ushistory William Tecumseh Sherman is forever linked with his famed March to the Sea in the late autumn of 1864. In truth, his subsequent march through South Carolina and part of North Carolina was far more destructive, a fact Sherman acknowledged in his memoirs. He commanded a regiment in the First Battle of Bull Run, a Union defeat which led to him suffering a bout of de...

The release of the hit film Oppenheimer has led to increased public interest in the true story of the Manhattan Project, the effort of a combined team of American and British scientists to create the atomic bomb during World War II. The film accurately shows the conflicted emotions those scientists had about their work, which resulted in the development of the most destructive weapon mankind ha...
Doc Holliday: The Deadliest Dentist of the Wild West
Просмотров 23 тыс.14 дней назад
Doc Holliday was the Robin to Wyatt Earp’s Batman; by his side whenever the going got tough, pistol in hand, ready to go out in a blaze of glory. Their friendship became a legendary tale of the Wild West, depicted in many books and westerns. Holliday didn’t necessarily act this way out of sheer bravery or an undying sense of loyalty, but for a more tragic reason - he knew that he was a doomed m...

Maximinus Thrax: The Barbarian Emperor of Rome
Просмотров 37 тыс.Месяц назад
#rome #biography Nothing lasts forever. Today we remember the might of the Roman Empire but it could not go on endlessly. When exactly the decline began is something for historians to debate, but we can argue that the empire reached its peak in the 2nd century AD, during the reigns of the Five Good Emperors, and slowly went downhill afterward. Then, that slow decline fell off a cliff 50 years l...
James Monroe: The Era of Good Feeling

The first four decades of what has come to be called the “American Experiment” were turbulent in the extreme. First there was a revolution to be won, despite the opposition to its goals expressed by nearly a third of the population. A failed attempt at a national government under the Articles of Confederation led to the creation of a strong federal government, creating disputes over the role of...

From 1914 to 1918, tens of millions of young men suffered the horrors of the Great War: the trenches, the maddening din of artillery, the hail of machine guns, and the deadly fog released by gas attacks. Almost 10 million of them never returned home. But even when trudging through the mud, the mist, and the misery, millions of men could count on an army of brave and loyal companions: some 16 mi...

John C.H. Lee: The Forgotten Mastermind of World War II

The history of the United States Army presents no shortage of what may be called “colorful” characters adorning its ranks and accomplishments. During the American Revolutionary War there was the rambunctious Ethan Allen, loud, profane, and self-serving. The American Civil War produced George Armstrong Custer, one of the earliest examples of an Army commander retaining a press correspondent on h...

in 1862 he was stopped in aspromonte by the italians national guards and from that event was born the most famous song in all of italy... "GARIBALDI FU FERITO"
I am embarrassed for Marcus Aurelius.
Ich arbeite als Erzieherin in Berlin. Alle türkischen Jugendlichen, auch die Mädchen, bewundern ihn und sehen ihn als Vorbild.
Why rattle everything off? Why this rush? Sounds as ×2 speed
It's hilarious hearing the pro-slavery people cry foul when John Brown used violence against them. They used violence to get their way for years opposing abolitionists. Bullies will always be extreme hypocrites. As for the debate whether John Brown's actions were justified or not, you have to remember the reality of the situation in America. Violence and intimidation were already used by pro-slavery groups. As the video said, a pro-slavery US Congressman beat a US Senator with cane in the US Capitol building over his abolitionist remarks. If that was happening in the halls of power, imagine what was happening at street level? Violence was already present, it's just that John Brown was the first abolitionist to decide to use the same tactics to push his abolitionist agenda. Brown was right in that the pro-slavery crowd already had thrown down the gauntlet and were no longer innocent.
"The Biggest Scandal in American History" Homer Simpson: "The Biggest Scandal in American History SO FAR"
I believe he lost this title to Trump!!
Something depressingly touching about seeing those scientists or farm workers petting the sheep to try and comfort the poor things.
Strange video, should put away your toys before recording😂
So the one piece is actually real
Where’s Simon dude
The first story differs from another version of that story
You can be a hero no matter what political faction you belong to John Rabe was a Nazi but he was also a hero
Think about back In the 19th century when killing was more public. People would have duels and it wasn’t uncommon for people to live these duels because guns were pretty awful back then but it’s a part of our history.
Augustus was so overrated. Most of his success can be attributed to JC greatness, Lepidus appathetic attitude to power and want to live to an old age, and Marc Antony's stupidity. Then you can attribute whatever is left of his accomplishments to Agrippa 😂
How did you do all this research for this veídeo, but not look up the pronounciation of any of the names or places. -.-
He was really socially aware of the nonsense around him too.
Very Godfather last words.
The Spartan General? Lol more like Sanctimonious General. He was as much of a Spartan as Simon is an Apache warrior.
4:24 looks like Joffrey from Game of Thrones. How fitting!
Great report. Really well written and conveyed. Please though; WAY too much subjective commentary. Please tone down the personal opinion (“he was right. He was right. He was right….”)
"Io paura di Satana? È lui che deve avere paura di me: io opero in nome del Signore del Mondo. E lui è solo la scimmia di Dio."
He actually wrote poems and sweet lines about folks like you He and so many others buck. Thing be, who's going to think for you? lol Because?
I don't believe the Japanese would have surrendered without the use of the atomic bomb. With the brainwashing by their own govt. re: what would happen if captured, citizens were killing themselves. Not to mention kamakazi pilots. I think they would have fought to the bitter end, despite casualties on both sides. Not saying the A bomb was the answer, but it ended the war quickly.
Hearing Reagan looked up to FDR in his early adulthood is honestly pretty jarring.
He had the crazy eyes.
A crazy whiskey drinking, KKK fightin, cigar smoking general and president. What a legend 👏🏽
He was an ignorant fool
This is greatest mathematician and physicist but there are many different types of minds.
spending money on lavish spectacles was an actual part of a roman politicians job.
Is it fair to say that the war resulted from a power vacuum (lack of an heir or chaos due to the death of the heirs) and the other European powers rushing to fill the vacuum?
Wealth of the wicked is layed up for me they shall gather it up but I shall put it on he that by usery and Unjust gain increaset his substance he shall gather it up for me because I pity the poor they
Funny aint it? How hes still demonized for pointing it out while in the present day US theres no longer a stance of hiding it. Hollywood just comes out and tells you theyre going to destroy society and the nuclear family. McCarthy had the gonads to actually say it back then and attempt to head off what we ended up with in our days now. He failed because the US has been destroyed by the same people McCarthy pointed to.
Horrible creature
What’s the hurry ?
Snowden is in Russia because the US Govt cancelled his passport & at that time he just happened to be in Moscows airport, he did not go there as is repeatedly implied on this video as being enemies of the US & RU are responsible
Damn he was ugly lol
I just had a daughter 8 weeks ago she is perfect and amazing this son of bitch treated his daughter so digusting it made me go hug my Bonnie to think i have friends who have argued lord byron was a misunderstood genius really makes my stomach turn however i am not sure they know this part of his life they have been given the rosy version by uni professors
What controversial? Because he didn’t become a western stooge? Because he proved that a non-western system can be successful? This channel should be called propaganda channel
Booooo bring back Karl Smallwood
when do we get a video hosted by or about the kitty?
Ah. A classic Simon video.
YO, hope you see this but you are a legit role model. Just a chill, regular dude, even though the channels huge. Very grounded and in touch with reality, so I hope the kids of today grow up to be like you.
Great video but the audio is painfully so low it’s impossible to watch this without headphones/ earbuds
14:51 , umm Dan Kelly was 19 when he died, not an old man.. hilarious stuffup
